![]() ![]() So the state of the art radio wasn’t nearly as high tech as the radios available for purchase in the late 1970’s. ![]() Unfortunately, delays in the British army procurement system meant that the radio was not fully fielded by the regular army until almost the end of the 1970’s and territorial army regiments had larkspur radios that soldiered on into the 1980’s. At the time of its design in the late 1960’s the radio was a very impressive piece of kit. But how many know its history? It was actually developed in the late 1960’s by Plessy semiconductor as part of the Clansman radio family which was to replace the aging tube driven larkspur systems that were first fielded by the MOD back in the 1950’s. The PRC-320 is an Arf-ham favorite and probably quite a few of you guys here own one. ![]()
